Kendra Thornton’s Fashion Challenge!

Hey everyone!

I’m SO excited to share that Kendra Thornton, Travel Industry Expert and Spokeswoman, has reached out to me in need of fashion assistance for her upcoming family trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida! Kendra has been featured on many TV shows, including Tyra Banks and Nate Berkus, and also appears regularly as a travel expert on ABC, CBS, NBC and CW affiliates across the country, sharing travel trends, tips and deals with millions of viewers every year. Using her challenge guidelines, I’ve created several unique looks hoping to inspire her!

“Kendra’s Fashion Challenge”:

“I can’t believe our family vacation is almost here! I feel thoroughly prepared with an amazing itinerary, now there is just one small problem! I started packing and I have no idea what to wear. All of my clothing is all so similar and many of my blouses are far outdated. All I know is, no matter what is on the day’s itinerary, I will enjoy myself more when I look and feel my best. That’s why I began “Kendra’s Fashion Challenge.” I am visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom and need a cute functional outfit for the day. I don’t want to look like I came out of the Jurassic Period when I step into DinoLand U.S.A. My family and I will be enjoying several different attractions here. We’ll test our skills at Fossil Fun Games in Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama. This dinosaur-themed midway includes fun rides for kids to enjoy as well, and we expect to unearth a few historical tidbits here ourselves. I’ve had lots of fun planning our itinerary with helpful travel experts from Gogobot. Now I need help planning my wardrobe for this adventure from my favorite bloggers for fashion advice. I want to look my best because I know those photo opportunities will be waiting around every corner.”
Here’s how I would style Kendra, so she can show off her great style and versatility, without sacrificing comfort!

For the daytime, I automatically knew a plain v-neck tee would be essential. Pair it with some patterned shorts, a light-wash jean jacket, and you’re set for the day! For an evening look, layer some gold necklaces, throw on a pair of cuffed jeans, and finish off with a pair of comfy wedges for a simple, easy outfit. Another essential piece is a simple, light, summer dress. Again, you can dress this one up or down! A pair of sandals and oversized sunglasses are perfect for the daytime, and when you add a blazer and a strappy pair of heels you get an effortless, formal look. Last two must-have essentials are a pair of light-wash flared jeans, and a pair of white jeans. White jeans are so chic, while also being so versatile. Flared jeans on the other hand are very flattering, and can be paired with almost anything!

Wishing you so much fun on your trip, Kendra!!  Hope these ideas inspired you, as well as all my other readers! xx

Spring is right around the corner which means it’s time to buy the must have shades of the season!  Today, Warby Parker introduced their 2014 Spring Spectrum Sun Collection.  Oversized, translucent frames in unique pops of color dominate their fresh sunny looks.  Styles showcase playful, versatile yet elegant looks for any occasion — a casual lunch, a day at the beach or a formal daytime event.  My two favorite pairs are the MINNIE Eucalyptus and the DOWNING Striped Sassafras.  The names just say it all.  Those aren’t the only ones that caught my eye, so I definitely recommend that you head over to their site (down below) and check out all the new hot pieces! xx

What Do your Sunglasses Say About You?

Hope you enjoy this post! it was so much fun collaborating with this awesome site! xx

First impressions are often the ones that matter most. It’s one of the main reasons we dress a certain way: business for the office, feminine for a first date, sporty for game day. Just like clothes say something about our personality, so do sunglasses. Read on to find out what your favorite style of sunglasses say about you:

Aviators: If teardrop-shaped frames are your favorite, then you are leader. You are tough and you know what you want. You can make a career out of your personality type, such as joining the military or police forces. Or you can just go ahead and act like it.

flip ups

Flip-ups: You’re indecisive as can be if you can’t even decide if you should wear glasses or sunglasses! The good news is you might be onto something, like the comeback of a trend. Not everyone dares to wear something as bold as flip-ups.

Oversized: The sunglasses of the stars: you either are one, or want to be one. You may seem like a private person, but you’re really not afraid to be the center of attention. Chances are, you might just be lazy and want to hide your lack of makeup.

Embellished: You’re all about fashion and looking different. You don’t care about comfort as much as you do about trends, which can sometimes actually hurt your health. Step off of those stilettos once in a while, and watch the world from ground level.

 cat eye

Cat eye: You’re literally just like the sunglasses you wear: a cat. You might be nice and purr at times, but one may never know when you decide to bite. A well-known trend in the ’50s and ’60s, cat eye sunglasses are linked with dazzling vintage fashion, and were used to be a favorite of the legendary Audrey Hepburn. Recently, these sunglasses have been making a rebound in the form of stylish shades.

Sports: You’re either an athlete, or just a practical kind of person. You want want you wear to be functional first of all, even if means giving up on style. You’re pragmatic, comfortable with who you are, and focused on what you need to do.

Ootd: Printed Pants & Fringe

I don’t know about anyone else, but i’m getting sick of the cold weather! We can’t do anything to get summer here faster, so i’ve decided to take advantage of the coldness in any way I can.  At the amazing boutique Ootra, that I currently intern at, I discovered these AMAZING statement pants.  They have such an intricate, detailed pattern, they are so different from anything i’ve seen! They are also so versatile, and would go well with boots, or even a pair of killer heels. For the top, I thought it would be a good idea to keep it simple with a black long sleeve, and a couple layered necklaces.  This top is particularly awesome because the sleeves flare out which give off more of a bohemian feel.  To add a little more excitement, this fringe vest did the trick.  It’s a great length, not too long or too short and  I’m loving the warm red’s and orange’s incorporated into it.   To keep my head warm, this adorable beanie did the trick! To top it all off, i’m of course wearing my trusty patent leather boots.  xx
